How Do You Handle Big Decisions?

I just got back from seeing The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In addition to being an excellent movie it posed a question which most people wrestle with: how do you handle big decisions?

Bella Swan was faced with some tough choices throughout the film. The implications of each decision were life-altering.

I thought of choices which I’ve made over the last year. I decided to be an entrepreneur. I’ve decided not to get a job. I’ve chosen to take risks which in the past I’d never dreamed I’d be taking.

I’ve realized that each successive decision was easier to make. As my vision has become more clear I’ve been able to make decisions more quickly and definitely. I know what I want and realize the choices I must make to get there.

How do you handle big decisions? Do you find your decision-making ability improving or becoming worse over time? How can you improve your ability to make decisions?

Condition yourself to attract wealth.

Decision making is a process of outlining alternatives and their implications until one settles on one that leads to the desired results. For me decision making was a process that could take 2 minutes or a week depending on what was at stake. My first job change took 9 months to happen. The jobs afterwards only took a couple of weeks for a decision.
However, the one decision that I have not been able to come to grips with, is what to do after this job? How would my life look like in a year and a half or two? It is so far away from my comfort zone and in time that the decision process is so far very slow. Having said that, when the time comes, right or wrong I am sure it will only take a few weeks.
  • You mention when the time comes to make a decision it'll take only a few weeks to decide. That's a good thing. Setting a specified time frame for a choice to be made results in a quicker and more definite decision.
